Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager is now available in the AWS Israel (Tel Aviv) Region

Customers can now use Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager in the AWS Israel (Tel Aviv) Region to automate the creation, sharing, copying, and retention of Amazon EBS Snapshots and EBS-backed AMIs via policies. Data Lifecycle Manager eliminates the need for complicated custom scripts to manage your EBS resources, saving you time and money.

You can create policies that automatically create snapshots from EBS volumes, multi-volume crash-consistent snapshots, and run pre-script and post-scripts to automate application-consistent EBS snapshots for self-managed databases on EC2. You can use DLM default policies for comprehensive backup protection for all EC2 Instances and EBS volumes in your account. You can also set your policies to automatically move snapshots to EBS Snapshots Archive, a tier for EBS Snapshots that can help you save up to 75% on storage costs for EBS Snapshots that you intend to retain for more than 90 days and rarely access. With policies for EBS-backed AMIs, you can set Data Lifecycle Manager to automatically deprecate, and deregister AMIs and then delete the underlying snapshots, ensuring you do not pay for AMI snapshots that are no longer required.

There is no cost associated with creating and managing Data Lifecycle Manager policies. Customers only pay for the storage cost associated with any EBS Snapshots that are created.

You can start creating policies through the AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, or AWS SDK and monitor the policies through CloudWatch metrics. To learn more, check our blog post or visit the Amazon Data Lifecycle Manager documentation.
