Chandigarh: After Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann challenged Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal to go ahead with filing a defamation case against him, the SAD responded on Saturday by vowing to hold Mann to account for his “grandstanding”.SAD chief spokesman Arshdeep Singh Kler claimed that: “The CM is rattled and, therefore, resorting to cheap language and false bravado. Even his boss, Arvind Kejriwal, had to apologise to SAD’s former minister Bikram Singh Majithia. His fate will be no different.” During his “one-man debate” at PAU in Ludhiana on November 1, Mann had claimed that late former CM Parkash Singh Badal had a quid-pro-quo arrangement with Haryana’s Devi Lal in 1998 to build a private canal for taking Punjab waters to Badal family’s Balasar farm. The SAD advised Mann to stop making personal comments against its leaders, including Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal. Kler said: “Instead of trying to ridicule his political opponents, the CM should introspect about the manner in which he assigned 3 police battalions to guard his mother and wife, and how he has become a tour operator for Kejriwal, who uses Punjab taxpayer’s money for personal election campaigns.”Kler asked Mann to reveal the action taken against his ministers and legislators who face charges of corruption and moral turpitude.
