Cannabis News: Medical Cannabis Is Now Legal On Costa Rica
After President Carlos Alvarado’s signature on legislation approved by federal lawmakers the day before, medical cannabis is now legal in Costa Rica. Hemp farming and commercial manufacturing are also permitted under the legislation. Cannabis consumption for adult-use purposes is still illegal. President Alvarado rejected a prior version of the bill previously this year. Modifications were implemented in response to the president’s previous decision.
The new legislation, according to Alvarado, will enhance the human and civil rights of those who use cannabis to treat the symptoms of their ailments while also spurring growth in the economy in rural regions where hemp will be farmed.
Costa Rica has joined the list of countries in the region to implement this type of legislation. Will the trend continue?
