I suffered an anxiety attack backstage
Sheynnis Palacios had to fight against herself until she became what she is today: Miss Universe 2023, a graduate in Social Communication and a person committed to the mental health problems of modern society.
In the past, she suffered episodes of anxiety and opened up about her past in the days leading up to the beauty pageant held in El Salvador.
She thought she had already overcome the problem, but it happened again at Miss Universe.
“I suffered an anxiety attack backstage. However, I knew how to handle it,” she declared in the press conference after her triumph. “And that’s what it’s all about, not being far from the human experience and the soul, on the contrary. You find it, know that it exists and flourish.”
Miss Universe using her experience for good
She channeled that suffering to try to help other people overcome their problems through her project ‘Entiende tu mente’ (Understand your mind). She also collaborates with the Nicaraguan television program ‘Al Día’ to share remarkable success all her teachings on the subject.
“It was born from a personal experience, I suffer from anxiety and through that I said that I am not the only person who is going through this,” she said.
“And now with the help of my psychologist who has been accompanying me, I have learned to manage my emotions.
“The nicest thing is when you hear or see someone on the street who tells me ‘thank you, I saw your program it encouraged me to go to the psychologist.”
Who did Shennys Palacios dedicate her triumph to?
Miss Nicaragua very excitedly dedicated her great achievement “to girls all over the world”, to her inner child, to her family and to the more than 6 million inhabitants of my country”.
In addition, she hopes that her triumph will allow “great changes for women and girls who are the foundation of society.”
