JJ Watt and Kealia Watt Welcome Their First Child
Cardinal’s Defensive end JJ Watt and pro soccer player Kealia Watt have offically welcomed their first baby together!
The pro-athlete pair shared the happy news on Instagram on October 25. The couple captioned the photo of Mom, Dad and baby boy Watt in the delivery room, “Love and happiness have reached heights we never even knew existed. Koa James Watt. 10.23.22.”
With an iconic football player as Dad and a 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup champ as Mom, baby boy Watt’s name Koa, meaning “warrior,” fits right in with his pro-athlete family. Plus, Koa James can be shortened to KJ Watt, in line with father JJ’s nickname.
Plenty of friends and family members were quick to congratulate JJ and Kealia on their new addition. Sports business analyst Darren Rovell cheekily commented, “With the first pick of the 2043 Draft, K.J. Watt, Defensive End, Wisconsin,” while JJ’s brother TJ Watt added, “Welcome to the family, Koa!”
The Watt’s first shared their happy news with posts on their respective Instagram pages in June. Kaelia sported a brown bodycon, showing off her baby bump, and JJ Watt captioned his post, “Could not be more excited.”
According to The Knot, The couple first met through Kaelia’s brother-in-law, Brian Cushing, who just happens to be JJ’s former teammate. Their relationship was later confirmed in an October 2016 podcast, where Kaelia said: “The rumors are true. We are dating. I’ve known JJ for a really long time, and we’ve always been great friends.” The two got engaged in May 2019 before tying the knot at a destination wedding in the Bahamas on February 15, 2020.
Our best to the happy family of three!
